Original analysis

What we found auditing all 646 schemas

Every schema in the SchemaStore catalogue that resolves to a file was parsed, validated against its own declared meta-schema, and linted. Results were cross-checked against Ajv; the two agreed on every schema our engine fully supports.

133 of 646 schemas put validation keywords directly beside a $ref. In draft-07 — which 592 of these schemas declare — every keyword next to $ref is ignored. Those constraints do nothing, and no error is raised. This is the most common real defect in the catalogue.
1 schema fails to validate against its own meta-schema: JSON Schema Draft 4 (unofficial with '$ref' and 'format').
Draft usage: draft-07 (592), 2020-12 (31), draft-04 (17), 2019-09 (4), none (2). The catalogue is overwhelmingly draft-07, nine years after it was published.
