Terms of Use & Disclaimer

Plain terms for a free, browser-based tool. Nothing here is unusual; it is written out so the position is unambiguous.

Acceptance

By using jsontools.tools you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. We may update this page; the date above shows when it last changed.

What the service is

jsontools.tools provides free utilities for working with JSON — formatting, validating, converting, querying, patching and related tasks. Every tool runs as JavaScript in your browser. There is no account, no upload, and no server-side processing of the data you enter.

Your data

Content you paste, drop or open with these tools is processed on your own device and is not transmitted to us. We do not receive it, store it, or have any means of recovering it. You can verify this in your browser's network inspector. See Privacy and How it works for detail.

You remain responsible for the content you process. Do not use these tools in a way that breaches your own confidentiality obligations, and treat any live credential you paste into any website — here or elsewhere — as worth rotating.

No warranty

The tools are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We test extensively and publish the results — our JSON Schema engine is scored against the official JSON-Schema-Test-Suite, the JSONPath engine against the RFC 9535 Compliance Test Suite, and the patch and escape engines against randomised property tests. That is a statement about diligence, not a guarantee of correctness. Verify results before relying on them for anything consequential, and do not treat any output here as a substitute for your own validation in your own environment.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site — including loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption — even if advised of the possibility.

Accuracy of reference content

This site publishes reference material: a registry of parser error messages, a schema registry, a glossary and technical articles. Measurements are reproducible and the collection code is described on the pages themselves. Specifications change, implementations change, and errors are possible. Where correctness matters, consult the cited standard directly — every claim links to the section it rests on. If you find something wrong, tell us.

Third-party content and links

We link to standards bodies, academic publishers and other websites we do not control, and we make no representation about their content or availability. JSON Schemas republished in the schema registry come from SchemaStore under the Apache License 2.0 and remain the property of their authors; see the licence page.

Anonymous analytics are provided by a third party and governed by its own terms and privacy policy. It has no access to the content you process in the tools. This site carries no advertising.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the service, scrape it at a rate that degrades it for others, or use it to process material that is unlawful. Automated bulk use is better served by running the underlying open standards in your own environment — every format used here is publicly specified.

Intellectual property

The site's design, text and original datasets are ours. You are welcome to cite and link to them. The standards we reference belong to their respective bodies — IETF, Ecma International, the Unicode Consortium, IEEE — and are linked rather than reproduced.
